It has been said that a picture is worth a thousand words, and when asked what that would make a movie worth, Hayden simply replies, "Ummm, I don't know man. Let's go to Sam's and get pizza and a dirty thirty and then catch some sweet rays." This whimsical response, though genuine, belies Hayden's life-long love of the silver screen and its breath-taking theatrics. Barrett recalls, "Yeah, Hayden has always had a passion for quality films. He's not really wowed by special effects so much (excepting those created by George Lucas, of course), but he's always been attracted to those once-in-a-generation type actors that are able to pour pure emotion into their roles."
So it seems that Hayden is a true devotee of the long lost art of great acting, and it is only proper that the 5 actors featured in this edition of "Hayden's Faves" represent some of the truly quintessential examples of the 20th century's finest.
When asked why the list includes no women, Hayden replied simply: "Cause I don't really like movies about cooking." Without further ado loyal readers, I present Hayden's Faves: Actors.
1. Billy Crystal
After humble thespian beginnings as a cast member on SNL in the mid-80's, Crystal's career skyrocketed with roles in the City Slickers movies. It was all cash-money from there for Crystal, and subsequent career highlights include single episode appearances on Frasier and Friends and a voice-role in the 2001 Pixar blockbuster Monsters, Inc.
2. Ice-T
Known by many as the "Father of Gangsta Rap," this straight talkin' OG cop-killa is for real, yall! At least in Hollywood, that is. Mr. Ice has successfully parlayed his premier acting skills into obtaining principal roles in such timeless classics as Leprechaun in the Hood and Gangland, and has also performed numerous voice-over roles in "gangsta" themed video games. Here's to hoping this bright, shining star of the screen doesn't stop anytime soon!
3. John Stamos
Who doesn't love Uncle Jesse? That's right, everyone loves Uncle Jesse! After breaking onto the primetime sitcom circuit with Full House, John Stamos' career really turned on the after-burners once the series had ended and went on to become arguably the most widely syndicated and overplayed show in television history. Everyone (especially Stamos because of the royalties) remembers the timeless and literally never-
ending repeats of Full House episodes every morning and afternoon
immediately before and following school hours. After leaving the
show, Stamos' most notable achievement would be to marry his smokin' hot wife Rebecca Romijn-Stamos and then subsequently divorce her. This latter decision has unfortunately caused him to be known among many fans as "the guy that broke up with that hot Mystique chick from X-men," but to true fans, like Hayden, John Stamos will forever be a beacon of the inifinite possibilites of television syndication.
4. Daniel Stern
A man who needs no introduction. But for those of you who have been living under a rock without somehow dying since the early 90's release of Home Alone, Daniel Stern is the theatrical genius that brought to life the character of Marve the burglar. His subsequent film credits and awards are quite honestly too numerous and spectacular to be listed, so I'll just list one and let you chew on it for a while before rushing out to Movie Gallery to buy it and watch it: Bushwhacked.
5. Jeff Goldblum
Hollywood's go-to-guy for the scientist character. Time and time again Goldblum has proven to his doubters that he might as well be a scientist IRL. With such roles in The Fly, Jurassic Park, and Independence Day, it is hard to see why Jeff Goldblum has not won any Nobel Prizes yet, not to mention Oscars! "The man can bring back the dinosaurs, destroy alien races, and transform himself into a man-eating fly--he should be on any biology major's top 5 list if you ask me," says Hayden. Well, as it happens, we did ask you Hayden, and here he is in all his glory.
